02:30 uur. Ik ben in Ha Giang in het Bong hostel. ben van plan een scooter route te gaan doen van 4 dagen die loopt van Quan ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van en Meo Vac.

13:30 uur. Vandaag van Ha Giang tot in Yen Minh gekomen. Zo mooi hier! Denk wel mooiste uitzichten tot nu toe!

Ha Giang is Vietnam’s northern-most province. The mysterious landscape along the Chinese border – a mythical combination of conical limestone peaks and deep, craterous valleys – is probably the most striking in the country. Considered by many as the last frontier for adventurous travel in Vietnam, Ha Giang already has an almost legendary status among independent travellers. In the last few years, road conditions between Ha Giang, Dong Van and Meo Vac have improved, making access to this remote part of the country relatively easy. With mountain passes hanging onto cliff-faces high above roaring rivers, and back-roads threading through forests of limestone pinnacles, it’s ideal territory for a motorbike road trip. Food, accommodation and ATMs can now be found throughout the region. This is the perfect time to ride the Extreme North Loop: before traveller numbers rise, but after the completion of necessary infrastructure.

Vandaag gereden van yen minh naar het plaatsje Lung Cu (Noordpool van Vietnam met een hoge uitkijk toren vanaf waar je China kan zien). Ben geëindigd in Dong Van. Verblijf in Mr. Hung home stay. Hieronder foto´s van vandaag.

Vandaag naar Meovav mooiste stuk weg en dan terug naaar Ha Giang denk ik.

Veilig terug! Poh was heel erg mooi. Via meo Vac Lung Phin en Yen Minh terug naar Ha Giang.

Morgen vroeg terug naar Hanoi.

Gisteren naar water puppet show geweest. Ben weer in light hostel.

Water puppetry (Vietnamese: Múa rối nước, lit. "Making puppets dance on water") is a tradition that dates back as far as the 11th century when it originated in the villages of the Red River Delta area of northern Vietnam. Today's Vietnamese water puppetry is a unique variation on the ancient Asian puppet tradition.

The puppets are made out of wood and then lacquered. The shows are performed in a waist-deep pool. A large bamboo rod supports the puppet under the water and is used by the puppeteers, who are normally hidden behind a screen, to control them. Thus the puppets appear to be moving over the water. When the rice fields would flood, the villagers would entertain each other using this form of puppet play.

Morgen vlieg ik van Hanoi naar Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi). Ligt 30 km oostelijk van Bangkok en is ook het vliegveld vanwaar ik terug vlieg naar Koln-Bonn.

Vandaag naar women's museum in Hanoi geweest.

This excellent, modern museum showcases women’s role in Vietnamese society and culture. Labelled in English and French, it’s the memories of the wartime contribution by individual heroic women that are most poignant. There is a stunning collection of propaganda posters, as well as costumes, tribal basketware and fabric motifs from Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups.

Aankomst Internationaal vliegveld van Bangkok Survarnabhumi. Anne vertrekt de volgende dag 11.10 met Eurowings naar Keulen. Ze besluit op het vliegveld te overnachten. De vlucht is met 6 uur vertraagd omdat er problemen met de banden zijn. De aankomst in Keulen is daarom niet om 18:25 uur maar om 01:00 uur.

Proberen te slapen op een bankje op het vliegveld in Bangkok en wachten op de terugreis.

Weer veilig thuis!
