Siem Reap to Sihanouksville and Boat to Koh Rong

Siem Reap is a nice place to go, from there you can easy take busses to other places like Bangkok Phnom Pehn, Sihanoukville and Kompot.

I took the nightbus (depart at 19.00) from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville. It is an 12 hours drive on bumpy roads and the beds are not that big. But I heard a tip. Just eat a small happy pizza before you go and you’ll sleep like a baby.

When you’re arrived in Sihanoukville there you have to go to Serendipity street. Thats the place where the boats depart to Koh Rong. When you get out of the bus there will be tuktuks ($4) motor taxi’s ($2) or guys who want to sell you a boat tickets and bring you for free to the boat. (you will arrive at 7.00) the first boat departs at 8.00.

Boat tickets to Koh Rong

You can go by a fast boat or a slow boat. Both are $20 for a two way ticket. (you can get them in every tour office) When you go with the slow boat you will see the Koh Rong Samloem as well and have a lunch over there. After that you go to Koh Rong. And will be there at 14.00. Depends on the weather. When you’ve the fast boat you will be there in 45 min. that also depends on the weather but it is an nice fast boat.

Keep your ticket it is for two ways. But you’ve to book your seat on the pier. When it is high season do is two days before. When you decide to stay longer it is easy to change the date so don’t worry about that.

Vanaf Koh Rong kun je met de ferry naar het rustigere bounty-paradijsje Koh Rong Samloem gaan. Dit kost zo’n $5 en duurt +/- 15 minuutjes. Ook is het mogelijk om een boot nemen vanaf Sihanoukville ($15, 45 minuten). Tbestemming. Je zou hier namelijk wel eens (veel) langer kunnen blijven dan gepland .
